Compare Windrow to the platform you are leaving
The short version
Every platform below audits accessibility, or leaves it to you. Windrow refuses to publish a page that fails a real WCAG 2.2 AA check. That one difference is what every page here unpacks.
How to read these pages
Each comparison keeps the same promise: we say where the other platform genuinely wins, and we tell you who should stay where they are. If you leave one of these pages thinking your current platform is the right fit, the page did its job. These are decisions, not ads.
Hosted site builders
- Windrow as a Squarespace alternative: Beautiful templates, no enforcement. A Squarespace site can be beautiful and unusable at the same time; a Windrow site cannot.
- Windrow as a Wix alternative: Ships an accessibility wizard that advises and never blocks. A wizard you can skip is a checkbox, not a commitment.
- Windrow as a Webflow alternative: The audit panel shows you the problems. Windrow will not publish them.
- Windrow as a Framer alternative: Animation-first versus everyone-first.
- Windrow as a WordPress alternative: With WordPress the accessibility answer is "it depends." With Windrow it is "yes, checked, on every publish."
- Windrow as a Ghost alternative: Same love of writing, different respect for the reader: Ghost counts opens and clicks by default, Windrow refuses to know them.
Developer CMSes
- Windrow as a Statamic alternative: A great tool for a developer who owns the outcome. Windrow guarantees the outcome without one.
- Windrow as a Craft CMS alternative: Craft gives an agency power. Windrow gives an agency proof: the conformance document writes itself.
- Windrow as a Drupal alternative: Drupal institutions staff an accessibility office. Windrow builds the office into the publish button.
Accessibility overlay widgets
- The alternative to accessibility overlays: overlays decorate broken pages; Windrow refuses to publish them. If a vendor's pitch is "no need to fix your site," ours is that your site was never broken.
Using a headless CMS like Contentful or Sanity? We do not have a page pretending Windrow is a drop-in replacement, because it is not one: headless means the CMS never sees the page your readers get, and Windrow's whole premise is that the rendered page is the product. If that premise sounds right, start with any page above.
